NEW YORK CITYS TOP FITNESS STUDIOS UNITE FOR A COMMON CAUSE ON “SWEATY SATURDAY” – OCTOBER 13th
Over 26 Studios to Raise Money and Bring Awareness to HealthCorps’ National Wellness Movement
NEW YORK, NY – This October, New York City is devoting one day entirely to fitness, health and wellness, while simultaneously shedding light on an important cause. On Saturday, October 13th, over 26 barre, cycling, Pilates, personal training and yoga studios will come together to support HealthCorps, a non-profit organization dedicated to combating childhood obesity by implementing in-school programs that help teens make healthier choices for themselves and their families. “Sweaty Saturday” will unite the fitness community and allow nearly three million people to do good for themselves, while giving back to others.
The brainchild of several fitness entrepreneurs devoted to helping America’s youth stay healthy and fit, Sweaty Saturday will be celebrated by top New York studios including Flywheel, SLT (Strengthen, Lengthen, Tone), Pure Yoga, Barry’s Bootcamp, Tracy Anderson, SoulCycle and exhale mind body spa, among others. Each studio will provide a full day of special classes and events including in-house DJ’s, celebrity appearances, nutritional consultations, exclusive merchandise and more. Participating studios will also pledge a minimum of $500 towards Sweaty Saturday, which goes directly to HealthCorps.
“We are honored to be the charity of choice for Sweaty Saturday’s inaugural event,” said HealthCorps President Michelle Bouchard. “It is incredible to see so many high-caliber fitness studios giving back to the community, ensuring that the next generation of young people will have the opportunity to be healthy as well. It’s also heartwarming to know that Sweaty Saturday shares our vision of creating healthier communities.”
The boutique fitness market is one of the fast growing segments in the fitness industry and no market has seen as much growth as New York City. FITiST, the members-only online fitness and wellness site offering one-stop access and booking to top boutique studios, is one of the few platforms that currently unites this powerful community and is one of the founders of Sweaty Saturday.
“We are so proud to be part of the team that is bringing the boutique fitness industry together for a day of getting fit and giving back. The boutique fitness market has exploded in New York, thus it is only fitting that New York is the home to Sweaty Saturday.” says Caroline Limpert, co-founder of FITiST.
“It’s incredible to see all of these boutique fitness studios coming together for a cause that is at the foundation of our industry,” says Amanda Freeman owner of SLT (strengthen, lengthen, tone). “We are all dedicated to helping people live longer healthier lives.”
Sweaty Saturday will be promoted by all participating studios as well as via social media (Facebook: SweatySaturday, Twitter: @SweatySaturday). For more information visit www.sweatysaturday.com.
